The Cesenatico city council in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, has approved the AR.CO Lavori Società Cooperativa’s project for the Onda Marina tourist port following an assessment of proposals submitted for the marina’s future development and long-term management.

Municipality of Cesenatico

Onda Marina includes a marina basin for recreational vessels, a residential facility, a pedestrian bridge and a public car park. Planned works include raising the quay around the marina basin by at least 80 centimetres, resurfacing the car park between the basin and Via Andrea Doria and refurbishing existing buildings in the area.

The future operator will take responsibility for both the infrastructure and day-to-day marina operations, including recreational boating services, handling of transit vessels, marina administration, lighting of public areas, as well as managing access to the pedestrian link connecting to the Ponente waterfront and cleaning of quays, pontoons and shared spaces.

Additional responsibilities include dredging up to the marina channel and covering 50 percent of dredging costs for the harbour channel between the entrance and the marina basin. The operator will also pay the annual state concession fee, while revenue from marina operations and related activities will remain with the operator.

In 2024, the municipality issued a call for proposals from economic operators interested in developing and managing the marina. The submission deadline was later extended to March 2025.

After the closing of the call, two proposals were received and reviewed by municipal authorities. By June 2025, the AR.CO Lavori Società Cooperativa proposal was considered, with additional information required by the project manager.
