In October 2025, Cape Town will serve as the centre of Africa’s marine industry by hosting the African Boating Conference from 21-22 October, followed closely by the Cape Town Boat Show from 24-26 October at the V&A Waterfront. These events will provide a continuous, week-long platform for engagement within the marine sector.

African Boating Conference

The African Boating Conference marks the continent’s first dedicated gathering of marine industry stakeholders, while the Cape Town Boat Show is recognised as South Africa’s principal marine exhibition. Organisers expect this alignment to attract a broad spectrum of delegates, exhibitors and key decision-makers from across Africa and beyond.

The boat show will be managed by SABBEX and BlueCape, organisations taking an industry-driven approach to maintain the event’s sustainability and relevance. The show will operate on a cost-only, breakeven basis, reflecting practices seen in leading global boating events. This model aims to ensure the event is run by and for the marine sector.

Conference Development Director Maryanne Edwards emphasised the benefits for attendees: “Bringing a high-calibre conference alongside a leading boat show creates an unparalleled opportunity for delegates. It maximises value by allowing access to both in one trip – minimising travel costs, multiplying networking potential and delivering direct exposure to products, services and decision-makers on the ground. It’s a highly efficient and impactful investment of time and resources.”

Cape Town Boat Show

Attendance at the Cape Town Boat Show had declined in recent years, but current industry activity combined with the African Boating Conference is expected to revitalise interest. Both events will spotlight the marine manufacturing sector, boat builders and the superyacht services market. This joint effort aims to strengthen Cape Town’s position as a regional marine industry hub.

Those involved in the marine industry are encouraged to engage with these events to benefit from the knowledge exchange and market exposure they offer. For further information and enquiries, contact Vanessa Davidson of the Cape Town Boat Show and Maryanne Edwards of the African Boating Conference.
